The London PR team are usually unflappable but we had to stop swanning about this week when a young swan wondered off the nearby River Leen and became trapped inside our car park.

The poor bird clearly couldn’t find his way out and became increasingly distressed, flapping its wings and generally charging about chasing people and cars.

No one was really sure what to do or who to call? The RSPCA or the RSPB? Maybe the Queen, after all doesn’t she own all the swans? Although, as someone pointed out, with her grandson’s wedding this weekend she could hardly be expected to turn up in person.

In the end the RSPCA were called and an officer managed to coax the hapless swan into the back of her van. We were told she planned to drive it out of the city to a more picturesque spot on the Trent.
